By 1980 only three percent of Rolls-Royce/Bentley cars were badged as Bentley. The Mulsanne Turbo was the first real separation from Bentley being simply a sister marque of Rolls-Royce and bringing it back to its sportier original roots.
What was later to become Turbo R, the Mulsanne Turbo still retained the more restrained elegant exterior and interior detailing, only difference being the radiator grille surround painted in body colour.
Due to the new turbocharged lineup by 1990 Bentley cars were selling in equal numbers with Rolls-Royce.

Equipped with a Garrett T04 turbocharger but unlike the later Turbo R still retaining carburetter fuel feed – necessiting a pressure chamber – resulted in impressive 50% increase in horsepower.
Because of the impressive performance the Mulsanne Turbo got very positive attention from the automotive press.

The Mulsanne Turbo was never sold in the USA and some other markets, making it rare in left hand drive configuration. Out of the total production of 496 cars 174 were LHD.

According to an accompanying document, this European (Germany) specification example was first delivered to a prince of the Kuwaiti royal family.
Imported to Germany in 1991 with circa 8000 kms on the odometer, after two short time owners ending in a private collection 1n 1994. As the collector passed away in 2019 his collection became available and a Finnish classic car enthusiast acquired and imported the Bentley in 2020.

149 pages of factory archive documentation confirms the colours and matching numbers, delivery- , invoicing and shipping dates, includes all production check lists, test drive and final inspection notes etc.
Press pack from the Geneve introduction, Motorsport (UK) and Auto Motor und Sport (D) road tests and original sales brochures also included.
It’s worth noting that the usually very critical Auto Motor und Sport had almost nothing to fault and pointed out that this was the first turbocharged car they had tested without any noticeable turbo lag…

Well looked after during the last owner’s time, and judging by the condition also before.
