The Checker Marathon was a consumer version of the popular Checker taxi.
All Checkers are getting scarce since the last ones were produced in 1982.
The taxis have been all but scrapped by now and almost impossible to find, especially in Europe.
Bought new by a lady in California in 1969, owned by her until 2008 when sold to Finland.
The new Finnish owner made a nut and bolt restoration, and decided to change the car to full Manhattan Taxi specification.
Not a bad choice, the “civilian” versions were all painted a very dull grey…
