Navitimer Chrono-Matic chronograph. Reference 8806, serial 1407388 gives 1974 as year of manufacture. Signed automatic calibre 12. Black dial with luminous hour divisions, luminous Arabic twelve, subsidiary recorder dials to three and nine, date aperture to six. Slide rule bezel, 18K solid gold case. Width 40mm.
The most famous of all Breitling watches, the aviator chronograph Navitimer was a further development of the Chronomat. First introduced in 1952, it has a complex logarithmic, double rotating slide rule scale, which is used for calculating fuel consumption, rate of climbing or sinking as well as average speeds. In 1952 the Navitimer was officially recommended as pilot’s watch by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association AOPA.
Original boxes and hang tag. Full set of documents with sales receipt from Duells, Gothenburg Sweden dated 9th March 1976, instruction book and warranty certificate.
Extremely rare in full 18K gold.
Fully serviced and renovated by Breitling in 2019, cost 1830 Eur, fitted new Breitling strap and buckle. Please note the pictures were taken before the renovation.
