Rare and important Series 1 Citroen CX 2200 first registered in 1975.
Before import to Finland this was the third oldest Citroen CX in the UK and was believed to be the oldest roadworthy example. Built in 1975, the car spent the first fourteen years of its life in France (lots of original french receipts).
Featured as the cover car of “CITROEN, The Complete Story” by Lance Cole, also the most photographed CX in the book. In many feature articles in UK classic car magazines including Classics Monthly and Classic Car Weekly.
Included in the car’s documentation;
– copy of “Citroën CX” book by Lance Cole featuring this car
– copy of Classics Monthly with 7-page article featuring this car
– French CX brochure from 1974 with similar colour cover car
– page from Autocar Magazine June 2012 with picture of this car
Finnish Historic Vehicle Registration. First registered in France, imported to UK in 1991, then to Finland in 2014. Same owner in France at least from 1980 (possibly from new) to 1999, five owners in Britain and one in Finland. The speedometer / odometer has been changed from kilometres to miles in early 00’s but very consistent and currently showing 73000 miles which is believed correct and backed by the service and MOT documentation.
Extensive service history and provenance. The interior is in outstanding condition with no fading to the wonderfully period upholstery and a very clean and unmarked headliner. There are some cracks in the driver’s arm rest. Period map light on the passenger side and the rare dash tray included. Front and rear fog lights and a rear screen louvre. Rear early items include the twin wiper and full wheel caps.
Full set of correct rear seat belts has been fitted to allow the safe carrying of three rear passengers, or two can share the pull-down centre armrest.
The suspension works perfectly, rising quickly and carrying you in supreme comfort over even the roughest roads. Michelin tyres complete the magic carpet ride experience.
Registered as Historic Vehicle in Finland and MOT/TÜV inspected until July 2018.
